DANCE AND MOVEMENT 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

Dance and movement courses are based on the exploration of  body coordination, equilibrium and movement, kinesthetic dance, performing, free-choreography and self-expression, using different rhythms and international music.

 

The bilingual class structure allows children to express freely themselves offering the ideal introduction and preparation for future courses of any different types of dance disciplines.

 

The course objective is to improve and develop at an early age the children’s motor skills and self-confidence, stimulating and cultivating the love for performing arts.

                                                                                   

CHILDREN 2 1/2 TO 3 YEARS OLD

 

Amount of Classes: 10 (Once a week for 10 weeks)

Days: Sunday and Tuesday 

Starting Date: Sunday February 16th to May 3rd  (Note: No Class on Sunday April 19th) and Tuesday February 18th to April 28th

A soft and gentle but fun dance approach course based of non-verbal activity that encourage and promote the connection between babies and parents in a nourishing way.

PAINTING AND DRAWING - ART CREATIVE CLASS 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

The series of art workshops painting and drawing are based on creating an exploratory as well as educational atmosphere where the child is guided with freedom to create, explore and express his own talent.

The method used to guide the class is to introduce traditional techniques given unconventionally.

Children will directly express their creativity exploring with different painting and drawing techniques (Still-alive, portraits, landscapes, and others).

The children will also study the great artists giving them the inspiration to create their own interpretations.

 

The unique class approach consists on having ten workshops at the studio and two of the workshops from the city museum of arts (Class dates in the museum will be at the second and eighth class).

Having this two classes at the museum will inspire them and also will give them the opportunity to do on spot sketches based on great artists.

 

The objective of the ten week course is to explore their own uniqueness artistic expression in a dynamic but relaxing environment, creating the best setting for creativity to flow.

 

The bilingual courses are based on small group of 8 children max to give them more personal attention.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

 

With more than 25 years of experience as a painter, illustrator and designer and under the name of Yisra Prevail, Maria Isabel Rodriguez loves to work with children “Children are a great source of inspiration” ; She has devoted her life on the creative field working as a textile designer and fine artist accomplishing a series of exhibitions of her paintings at galleries (https://contact92691.wixsite.com/yisraprevail). 

 

She is the director and founder of LocaleM a service based on introducing art and dance therapy techniques through the use of expressive arts (www.localem.info). Her explorative and creative method use to teach her workshops has allow her to work in schools (EMSB through the B.A.S.E program), daycares, municipal libraries, cultural and community centers.

ART AND MOVEMENT

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

The bilingual multidisciplinary group sensorial activities are designed to explore and stimulate creativity through the use of expressive arts such as painting, drawing, tracing, music, kinesthetic dance, free-choreography through movement. 

The activity integrates art, dance and play therapy techniques triggering the development of metacognitive skills (consciousness and self-awareness),the body senses and the imagination providing a safe, challenging and nurturing atmosphere for positive personal and interpersonal personal growth; using low skill - high sensitivity methods. 

 

The instructor work is to guide the participants through self-discovery to achieve a better understanding and connection with each other. The children will also be stimulated towards learning compassion and empathy.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

 

Maria Isabel is the founder and director of the services of art and movement LocaleM (www.localem.info) .

She has devoted her life to the process of creativity and through this process she has developed a deeper knowledge and understanding of the benefits that provide combining art and dance therapy techniques through the use of different expressive arts.

 

Being an artist herself has allow her to understand the creative process and with 25 years working in the field of art as a textile designer, illustrator, painter (www.yisraprevail.com) and arts performer she uses on her workshops her personal explorative method to guide children and adults to free themselves and to discover their full creative potential. 

​She has taken multiple individual courses on dance and expressive arts therapy with the National Center of Dance-therapy of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, and she has also obtained a CEU certificate from the Expressive Arts Institute of California based on Intermodal Expressive Arts Therapy.

 

Mrs. Rodriguez gives her workshops at the English Montreal School Boards as part of the B.A.S.E program working with children 5-12 years old including children with special needs and autism. She also works at daycares, and with adults and children at municipal libraries, cultural and community centers.
